I recently attended the Hong Kong Toy Fair an annual event which takes place over 4 days in early January.
Hong Kong is a fun place to visit. Very easy to get around via the MTR or taxis and a very safe place to walk around at any time.
We are a regular exhibitor at trade shows in Australia however our shows are tiny in comparison to to the Hong Kong Toy Fair. Laid out over 5 halls there are something like 3000 exhibitors displaying their products.
It’s always fun to check out what’s on offer and it’s nice to catch up with the manufacturers of the products we sell. Language is sometimes a challenge but with a smattering of Chinese you can usually get by.
First priority is to meet with our existing suppliers to see what’s new and make some product choices for the new year. We usually like to show these new products at the Sydney Gift Fair in February and the Melbourne Toy Fair in March. We caught up with Battat the supplier of B Toys who as usual had a number of exciting new products ready for the new year. Toysmith our novelty supplier has a great range of classic novelty items.
Peterkin who supply the Dolls World range of Baby Dolls for toddlers also had some fantastic new items. Speaking of Peterkin we were very proud to have received an award from our UK partner Peterkin as pictured.
Of course we’re always on the lookout for new suppliers and this time I was especially keen to find some Dinosaur Toys , educational toys for toddlers and Special Needs Toys.
We’ll let you know once we have the new products ready to go.
